Hungary: Ferihegy International Airport in Budapest


Hungary is a landlocked country in central Europe, bordering with Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Serbia and Ukraine. The country offers diverse attractions, starting from low mountains, green plains, lakes, rivers, striking culture, alluring architecture and exotic cousins. Hungary is considered one of the 15 most famous tourist destinations in the world. The capital city of Hungary is Budapest that considered as one of the most beautiful cities in the world.  Although, it is relatively small country but has abundant World Heritage Sites, so you can expect all safe, charming and attractive places in Hungary effortlessly.


Budapest, being the capital of Hungary is the most visited tourist destination in Europe. It is also the largest capital city of Europe and well famous for its culture, arts, politics, industry, and tourism. Budapest is the majestic city where you can explore the youthful environment, world class music, vibrating nightlife and natural thermal baths. The city is also called as Paris of the East due to its scenic views but today, we will talk about another exceptional construction of this city, Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport.
Budapest airport is commonly known as Ferihegy International Airport or only Ferihegy. This airport is serving the capital city of Hungry since 1939. It is also the largest airport among four commercial airports of the country. The airport is located 16 km away from the city center and renamed in the honor of Ferenc Liszt who was a well-known composer, teacher and pianist of the 19th century in Budapest. Primarily, the airport offers international flights within Europe to Africa and then Middle East.
The airport has the capacity to handle 8.5 million passengers per year and also served as a base for Ryanair and Wizz Air. The airport has three terminals, named as terminal 1, terminal 2A, and terminal 2B. it also has a small terminal for general aviation flights with a new cargo base. The distance between terminal 2 and 2B is very minimal as compared to terminal 1 which used bus service for passenger’s transportation.
Terminal 1 is mostly used for low-cost airline destinations due to its location in the proximity of Budapest that offers fast transportation of passengers from city center to terminal 1 but terminal 2 is far away from city center, so that it takes 7 to 20 minutes bus ride.
